OVERTON PHOTOGRAPHIC CLUB NEWSLETTER
No.3 July 2009

We hope the Newsletter will help to keep all our members informed of events taking
place during our summer break… although we are not having any more meetings until
4th September, there is still plenty going on!

DSLR User magazine, Battle of the Clubs
We continue to move up the league table; after the latest results we are now in 40th position, just
ahead of Southampton!. Having started at 59th, this is good progress. A reminder that we now need
some images of “Animals” for the next round. We have clarified that this can include birds. Could
you please email these to me at John Hodge by the end of Sunday 26th July so as to give
time for the images to be voted on by members to select the three for our entry. Please use .jpg files
sized to around 800 x 600 pixels. The theme for the following month is “Macro”, so be prepared! v Following this, the other themes coming up during the early part of next season are “Photoshop”, “Abstract”
and finally “Architecture”

Micheldever Fete:
We will be mounting an exhibition at this fete again this year, on August Bank Holiday; we will be able to
show about 60 pictures. It looks like we’ll be able to use a maximum of 6 images per member entering, but
more details will follow later.

Overton Scarecrow Festival, July 17th to 19thBr> We ran a stall on Sunday primarily to sell off stock of our Sheep FAir DVD and to promote the CLub
Entries for the competition are coming in and thak you to all who ran the stall and attended the Festival.
No doubt many of your photographs will be entered for the Club competitions next season!

Environmental Photographer of the Year
There is still plenty of time to enter the Environmental Photographer of the Year (c/d 31st July).
Details at Environmental Photographer of the Year, July 31st.

Interanatonal Garden Photographer of the Year. Have a look at the web-site on Igpoty.com… the winners of the last competition have just been announced,
and you’ll see that the standard of some is not beyond the reach of our members, so why not have a go?
They are also running an earlier competition, theme “in full bloom” c/d June 30th.
