OVERTON PHOTOGRAPHIC CLUB NEWSLETTER
No.2 May 2009

We hope the Newsletter will help to keep all our members informed of events taking
place during our summer break… although we are not having any more meetings until
4th September, there is still plenty going on!

DSLR User magazine, Battle of the Clubs
Our first month’s entry in Monochrome got us 28 points out of a possible 45. We’ve now
had the result of round 2 ( Colour) where we scored 31 points and moved up from 59th to 47th
in the table !. We have just submitted for round 3 ( Spring). A reminder that we now need some
images of “Landscapes” for the next round. Could you please email these to me at John Hodge
by the end of Sunday 31st May so as to give time for the images to be voted on by members to select
the three for our entry. Please use .jpg files, sized to around 800 x 600 pixels. The theme for the
following month is “People / Portraits”, so be prepared! Following this, the other themes coming up
during our break are “Animals” and “Macro”, then during the early part of next season the themes are “Photoshop”,
“Abstract” and finally “Architecture” Having set up our club on the DSLR site via a personal name / password, we are in the process of having this
changed to allow all members to log in and use the club site. Details will be emailed when this is sorted.

Micheldever Fete:
We will be mounting an exhibition at this fete again this year, on August Bank Holiday; we will be able to
show about 60 pictures. It looks like we’ll be able to use a maximum of 6 images per member entering, but
more details will follow later.

Overton Scarecrow Festival, July 17th to 19thBr> While we are still a bit sketchy on detail, the club intends to have some involvement in this, probably having a
stall and running a photo competition. More details later, but please note the dates in your diary.

Environmental Photographer of the Year
There is still plenty of time to enter the Environmental Photographer of the Year (c/d 31st July).
Details at International Garden Photographer of the Year, deadline November 30th.
Have a look at the web-site on Igpoty.com… the winners of the last competition have just been announced,
and you’ll see that the standard of some is not beyond the reach of our members, so why not have a go?
They are also running an earlier competition, theme “in full bloom” c/d June 30th.
